I just got hold of the (some would say) seminal Who album, Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy. The first of many greatest hits, this one stands out in collecting many non-album singles, as well as having probably the best collection of tracks overall. Although missing out on the Who’s Next cabal of singles (Baba O’Riley, Won’t Get Fooled Again), there is something about the ‘of the era’ feel that won’t be matched by any modern compilation.
These are all vinyl rips. If that concept annoys you, I would buy the original vinyl.

I love this album! My Dad is a big fan and it’s one of the things I’ve Pinball Wizard, Boris the Spider…and the above tracks, love them all!
I can honestly say The Who changed my life. I saw them live twice, and they were — man, there aren’t enough superlatives. Brillant. Incredible. Spectacular. The venue had a very low stage with big open area in front, so my friend and I walked down to stand right in front, close enough that I could have reached up and grabbed Roger Daltry’s bright pink satin pant leg.
The real kicker? They were the opening act for — I blush to admit this — Herman and the Hermits. That night, my musical taste grew up.
P.S. Vinyl rips are fantastic. My son is in the process of ripping all my old vinyl for me — if I always have my music, I’ll never grow old. :)
